Feyenoord will do ‘everything in their power’ to keep midfielder Orkun Kökcü at the club this summer amid interest from Leicester City.
That’s according to Algemeen Dagblad, who say the 21-year-old has not left the Dutch side’s training camp in Austria for transfer talks.
Kökcü has regularly been linked with a move to the Premier League over the last few years, with Arsenal consistently named as a potential destination.
The move has never come off, but he again finds his name in the transfer rumours this summer, with Leicester reportedly eyeing up a move.
Reports in England have stated that Brendan Rodgers’ side are considering a move for Kökcü, with the player having been on their watch list for some time.
There have also been claims that talks have been opened with Feyenoord over a deal, and while Algemeen Dagblad don’t confirm or deny that, they do make the Dutch side’s stance clear today.
According to their information, Feyenoord will ‘do everything in their power’ to keep Kökcü at the club this summer.
They’ve already sold Luis Sinisterra and Tyrell Malacia to Leeds and Manchester United respectively, and don’t want to further weaken their squad by selling Kökcü as well.
They also insist that reports the midfielder has left their training camp in Austria for talks are also wide of the mark, as he’s actually departed because he is actually ill.
The Turkish midfielder does not have Coronavirus, however.
It seems, then, that if Leicester are keen and wish to make a move, they’ll have to work hard to get a deal over the line, with Feyenoord not particularly interested in selling Kökcü this summer.
