Like in the January transfer window, Idrissa Gana Gueye to Paris Saint Germain is a transfer rumour that is not going away this summer.

The Ligue 1 champions, particularly Thomas Tuchel, are keen on the midfielder and he is likewise desperate to head back to France.

So far, though, a deal is yet to be completed with Everton holding out for a top price for a player they don’t want to sell and who has three years left on his current contract.

PSG remain determined to get him, though, and Paris United report today that Gueye could happen ‘in the coming days’.

They say that Sporting Director Leonardo was not interested in Gueye at first but has now changed his mind and will push to get the deal over the line as soon as possible.

He’s already discussing the move with Gueye’s agent, who happens to be his brother, and the newspaper says the Senegal star is ‘under the spell of the Parisian project’.

That’s not surprising given he made it clear he wanted to move in January and has talked about his disappointment at not completing the move repeatedly.

Getting Everton to sell is not proving cheap, though. The Toffees have already turned down a €30m as Everton considered that as ‘insufficient’ and are holding out for more.

Unperturbed, Leonardo is set to ‘accelerate’ things after the Africa Cup of Nations final and will ‘make a new, more expensive, proposal to the club from Liverpool.’ His goal is to complete the move quickly.

Paris United don’t state how much Everton want but it has been widely reported their price is €40m and there’s no reason they’ll have lowered that, particularly with Gueye starring at the AFCON.

Until PSG match that price or at least offer enough for the Toffees to be satisfied, they’re likely to be met with a wall of resistance.
