On Thursday, we covered claims from Germany that Leeds United are keen on a deal for Alexander Nubel.
The Bayern Munich goalkeeper spent last season on loan at AS Monaco, and given he’s not expected to seriously challenge for a starting place he’s expected to leave again.
This time, Bayern are keen on a permanent transfer, and that could favour Leeds United. The original reports talked of interest from VfB Stuttgart, with the Bundesliga club said to be in direct competition with the Whites.
However, Stuttgart would prefer a loan to a permanent transfer.
Abend Zeitung München cover the situation, and Leeds interest gets a mention again. It’s also stated Bayern want to secure a buyback clause for the goalkeeper.
Such clauses are most common when a promising youngster leaves a club, not a 26-year-old goalkeeper such as Nubel. The stopper was very highly rated before his move to Bayern, and the club obviously want to protect themselves if he returns to his very best form.
What Leeds United think of that isn’t known, but they may agree if it means a cheaper transfer fee. None of the reports have shared Nubel’s stance on a move to the Championship club.
