With a number of players at Manchester United having contracts ending in 2023, the Red Devils are said to be considering a few renewals.

David De Gea is one of them, while Diogo Dalot, who has found himself playing a lot under Erik ten Hag, is another.

The Portuguese right-back is easily the first choice for the role at Manchester United these days, and that has caught the attention of Barcelona.

That’s according to Fichajes.net, who claim that Xavi is desperate to bolster that side of his defence in the near future despite luring Hector Bellerin back from Arsenal on a free.

Juan Foyth is seen as the prime target, but his price is far beyond what the club are prepared to pay, which is why they are now looking at the Manchester United defender.

It’s said Dalot has now ‘surpassed’ Foyth in the pecking order of desired players, and he could be ‘one of the first signings’ for Barcelona for next season.

That’s because his contract ends in June, although it’s worth pointing out that Manchester United have an option to extend that by a year if they so wish.

Considering his importance in Ten Hag’s plans these days, that’s something they’re expected to do, but if they don’t, then he will be free to ‘negotiate his arrival at the Camp Nou at zero cost’.

We doubt that will ever be the case, but it’s something Barcelona are seemingly keeping an eye on.
