Spending last season on loan at Spartak Moscow, Mario Pasalic is expected to return to Chelsea at the end of the month when his temporary deal.
The Croatian midfielder has been at Stamford Bridge since 2014 when he transferred from Hajduk Split for just over £2m, but has yet to make an appearance for the Blues.
Loans to Elche, Monaco, Milan and the Russian club have been all the footballing action he’s had over the past four years, and he’s fully expected to spend the upcoming season somewhere else again.
The likeliest destination will be a return to Italy, this time with Fiorentina, and it’s a deal that could be done very quickly.
According to Corriere Fiorentino on Thursday, the Serie A side would like to acquire the 23-year-old on a loan with a view to buy in the ‘next few hours’, which we all know can mean anything between two to 72+ hours.
Pasalic would slot in directly into Stefano Pioli’s starting midfield, giving the young midfielder the game time he will be looking from such a deal.
There doesn’t appear to be much competition in this one, so unless something goes drastically wrong, this appears to be a slam dunk.
