Nottingham Forest are eyeing up a move for Sporting Club de Portugal midfielder Marcus Edwards, with the Portuguese side open to a loan deal.

That’s according to Record, who report that Sporting are keen to move Edwards on this month if they can.

According to the newspaper, a recent incident involving the midfielder that culminated in Edwards arriving late for a training camp has been the final straw for the club.

The 26-year-old has consistently been a problem, a source of ‘indiscipline’ and because of that, they want rid. In fact, they want to move him on ‘immediately’.

That desire is so strong they would be willing to sanction a loan deal in January. That’s despite Edwards having a €60m release clause in his current contract.

The hope is that they can loan him now and secure a figure at the end of the season. Nottingham Forest and Olympiacos have shown interest.

Sporting want €8-10m from any permanent exit, but that is considered high by Nottingham Forest and their Greek counterparts. The Portuguese side have to take into consideration that they only own 65% of the player. The rest will go to Tottenham.

Thus, they need to get as much as possible to try and ensure a profit from any deal. For now, though, Nottingham Forest, Olympiacos and other suitors aren’t willing to match their demands.
