Three days ago, Estadio Deportivo reported Giovani Lo Celso isn’t pleased with his limited game time under Ange Postecoglou and plans to leave Tottenham Hotspur in the summer. It was also stated he’s been in contact with his former club, Real Betis.
The midfielder has been restricted to less than 150 minutes of action from eight games in this calendar year.
With a deal expiring in 2025, he could leave Tottenham after this season. That’s according to Fichajes.net, who state Atlético Madrid are ready to open their door for the 28-year-old.
Diego Simeone has long been an admirer of the Argentina international and wants the La Liga side to sign his compatriot at all costs. The manager believes the Spurs player would suit well in his system in Madrid.
It’s further claimed Los Rojiblancos want to put a ‘ridiculous offer’ of €20m on the table, to convince Spurs to sanction Lo Celso’s sale. Whether by ridiculous they mean it’s too low or too high isn’t made clear, but it’s likely to be the former.
Atlético are aware that it’s possible for the South American to leave Tottenham and the report adds they will take advantage of this to sign a player requested by Simeone.
Lo Celso has managed two goals and two assists from 19 games for Tottenham this season.
