“He’s an important player, he did well for us”.
That’s what Torino director David Vagnati said on Thursday about Dennis Praet, who returned to Leicester City following a spell in Turin last season.
Those quotes are the reason why Italian newspaper Tuttosport today features a story about the Serie A side’s efforts to sign the midfielder once again this summer.
It’s said Torino once again ‘warm up the track’ and are now set to have a new meeting with Praet’s agent, which was already reported on.
The problem, however, isn’t to convince the player, but to get to an agreement with Leicester City.
The Foxes are said to be focused on an outright sale, regardless of the method used by the Italian side of paying it, as they could split the fee in several years.
Torino, however, want a paid loan with an obligatory buying clause only in case some objectives are met. One of them would be the qualification for an European competition, and the other is the minimum of 20 starts this season.
The intention from the Serie A side is to try to ‘reopen the deal’, but only after the next week.
They’re said to be waiting to play with the fact that Praet won’t get better offers this summer, and the player himself could tell the Foxes about his wish of playing in Turin.
The price for the move is said to be of €12m, although ‘negotiable’.
