AS Roma are interested in Brighton and Hove Albion’s Yves Bissouma this summer, but he’d prefer a move to Arsenal.

That’s according to Forza Roma, who believe Jose Mourinho could ‘convince’ the midfielder into the move, as he did with Tammy Abraham last summer.

They explain that Bissouma’s performances for Brighton since his arrival from Lille in 2018 have not gone unnoticed, and he is now ready to make the step up.

Brighton would be more than happy to let him go but want to make at least twice the €17m they paid to sign him in the first place.

Roma are one of those who are keen and ‘sniffed out’ the player a few months ago, sending their scouts to watch over him and bring reports back to Mourinho.

They’ve likened him to Napoli’s Franck Zambo Anguissa but believe he could surpass him completely and only needs to join a big club to make that ‘definitive leap’.

The ‘substance’ is there for him to be a top player, and Roma want that to happen at the Stadio Olimpico.

They’ll have to work hard to convince the Brighton man, though, as he would prefer to stay in the Premier League. Arsenal are believed to be interested, and he has been hinting on social media that he’d move to the Emirates if given the chance.

Thus the ‘main obstacle’ for Tiago Pinto is to convince him Roma would be a better choice, but there is a feeling Mourinho could be ‘decisive’.

He was key to the likes of Abraham choosing Roma last summer and could prove to be just as effective in luring Bissouma.

There is a list of alternatives being explored should Bissouma move to Arsenal, with Douglas Luiz and Ruben Neves being looked at, but the Brighton star would be the preferred choice.
