Turkish website FutbolArena claim Besiktas want to sign Newcastle United forward Aleksandar Mitrovic as part of any potential deal for Cenk Tosun.

FutbolArena say Besiktas officials are open to selling Tosun to Newcastle United for Mitrovic plus €7m, and that negotiations with the Premier League side are set to continue.

Newcastle United have been linked with Tosun in recent months, after they tried to sign the Turkey international in the last window.

It’s been reported Besiktas officials were in London at the weekend to meet with Mitrovic’s representatives, and the Newcastle Untied player himself. Besiktas officials also held initial talks with Mitrovic’s father, and they reportedly came out of that meeting confident about getting a deal done.

It remains to be seen whether this exchange will happen, but it could be an ideal transfer for both Besiktas and Newcastle United. It doesn’t seem like the Serbian has a future under Rafael Benitez, and if Besiktas have to sell Tosun to Newcastle United they’d have a replacement.

Tosun has been in impressive form for the Turkish champions this season, and he’s been key in his side reaching the knockout stages of the Champions League as group winners.
