Chelsea have bolstered their attack by signing João Félix on loan from Atlético Madrid and he was sent off on his debut against Fulham on Thursday, forcing him to miss the next three league games.
The Blues are still in the market for another attacker and have set their sights on PSV Eindhoven’s Noni Madueke.
According to Eindhovens Dagblad, relayed by Soccernews.nl, Chelsea are interested in signing the winger in January.
An ankle injury forced the player to be on the sidelines until mid-October, but since regaining full fitness, he has scored two goals from eight appearances.
Although Chelsea are interested in the England U21 international, there are doubts within the club whether to make a top offer to secure his services in the winter market.
The Dutch side would prefer to sell the 20-year-old in the summer, but a sale this month is possible if they were to receive a tempting offer.
An amount of at least €45m would be needed to convince PSV chief Marcel Brands to sanction Madueke’s sale in January.
This is the similar fee Liverpool paid the Eredivisie side in signing Cody Gakpo. In other words, PSV will let Madueke ‘leave for Chelsea for Gakpo-like amount’ in this window.
Madueke had spells at Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotpsur’s academies earlier in his career. If Chelsea were to complete his signing, he will be considered as a home-grown player.
