Different outlets from the Portuguese media today bring very similar information regarding Wolverhampton Wanderers’ chase for Benfica striker Gonçalo Ramos.
Following reports on Thursday claiming Wolves are chasing the player, we now see several newspapers sharing a clear briefing from the Eagles about the interest.
Starting with A Bola, the newspaper confirms that Bruno Lage’s side made contact with Benfica for the transfer. They claim the Lisbon side would only negotiate his departure if for a full sale, and that would need to be for €40m.
It’s said Wolves have already been told about that, and could indeed offer that amount. The outlet still points out the Eagles should not accept a loan with an option to buy.
The claims are similar to those made by newspaper Record, who say Benfica want €45m. They report Bruno Lage knows Ramos back from their time together with the Portuguese side’s youth ranks, and now wants him to replace Fábio Silva.
Finally, newspaper O Jogo claims Wolves already tried to sign Ramos on loan in January, and the Eagles turned it down back then. Now, since they’re full of attackers, they’re open to selling, but that would need to be for at least €45m.
