With Dusan Vlahovic seemingly set to stay in Florence now that Gennaro Gattuso has been announced as Fiorentina’s next manager, the same cannot be said about his teammate and compatriot Nikola Mllenkovic.
Unlike the striker, the centre-back’s contract is expiring next year, meaning the Serie A side have to sell if they cannot get him to extend his current deal, which appears to be the case.
That leaves the door open for interested parties, such as Manchester United, who continue their search for a new centre-back.
As we edge towards the start of the transfer window, it’s clear that will be an area Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will want to bolster, and Corriere dello Sport name the Red Devils in the list of potentially interested parties when it comes to Nikola Milenkovic.
The newspaper explain the Serbian is ‘talked of as a possible exit’, allowing the club to get ‘an important economic return’ after ‘two abundant seasons’ of rumours.
As things stand, ‘no concrete offers’ have arrived on Fiorentina’s desk, but this season could be different, as they have tried to renew him ‘without success’ and it’s believed they want €30-35m to sell him 12 months ahead of his contract expiring.
