Alessandro Bastoni continues to be named as a target for Tottenham Hotspur following the north London club’s failure to sign him in the summer.
The centre-back established himself at the Serie A side when Antonio Conte was in charge between 2019 and 2021. He’s been able to standout for his club since then and is now valued at least at €55m, according to InterLive.it.
With a deal expiring in 2024, the Nerazzurri want to extend his contract as soon as possible. There is also another reason to tie Bastoni to a new deal and that is to defend themselves from ‘attacks of strong English suitors, Tottenham first among all’.
It’s said the Italy international is ‘more than an idea’ for the Premier League side. Conte has his compatriot Nicolò Barella, and Lautaro Martínez in his mind. Among the Inter trio, Bastoni is ‘certainly the one most urgently needed’ at Spurs.
Tottenham must overcome an important obstacle to get the deal over the line. They need to convince the defender because Bastoni, at the moment, doesn’t intend to leave Inter.
