Fenerbahce are determined to arrange a deal with Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke before the European Championships to avoid other clubs coming in for him.
That’s according to Fanatik, who say the Turkish side want the Belgian to sign a contract before the tournament’s June 11th start date.
Benteke is out of contract with Crystal Palace come the summer, and all signs point towards him leaving the club at that point.
He is not short of suitors, with something of a mini-revival this season, having convinced several clubs he is worth looking at.
All of the major clubs in Turkey, in particular, are keen on him, and there have been several months worth of reports about them all making a move and holding talks with his agent.
Fanatik continue that today and state that Fenerbahce chief Emre Belözoğlu, who is currently in temporary charge of the team as well, wants Benteke in his team.
Indeed, he wants a deal ‘as soon as possible’ as the club is worried that his performances at the European Championships could cause his suitors to increase.
Their plan, therefore, is to get Benteke to sign a contract before June 11th to ensure they don’t miss out on the striker.
Indeed, so determined is Emre to get his man, he is planning to step in and speak to Benteke directly if talks with his agent do not progress as hoped.
Either way, it seem Benteke will have options should he leave Crystal Palace as expected this summer, and one of them wants things done very quickly indeed.
