PSV are still keen to sign Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel on loan despite losing out on the Netherlands international in the summer. Van Ginkel had a loan spell with the Dutch champions in the last campaign after finding his chances limited at Chelsea.

ED.nl have today reported PSV want to sign Van Ginkel when the transfer window reopens in January even though they brought in Newcastle United’s Siem de Jong in the summer.

Van Ginkel was the first choice for PSV, and when they knew they couldn’t sign the Chelsea youngster they instead took the Newcastle United midfielder on loan. However, even though they brought in De Jong, they still want to sign Van Ginkel.

Van Ginkel’s loan spell with PSV was brief last season, and therefore they would like this time to agree an 18-month lease with Chelsea. However, the stumbling block could be the player’s wages as PSV can’t compete with what he earns with the West London side.

Van Ginkel is currently sidelined because of injury, but is expected to return next month.
