At the start of the week, it was reported by the French media that Lyon made an offer for Peñarol wonder-kid Facundo Pellistri.
Now there are claims saying the Uruguayan side are still to respond to the offer, and there’s a good reason for that.
Calcio Mercato reports that even though Lyon’s bid is pretty good, Peñarol are holding out for an offer from Manchester United.
It’s said the attempt from the Red Devils could be made at the weekend, and the Uruguayan side will wait for that before they give Lyon a response.
Manchester United have been linked to Facundo Pellistri for a while now. In July, former Peñarol manager Diego Forlan, who had just eleven matches in charge of the club, revealed that he’d spoken to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about the wonder-kid.
The original report from L’Equipe said Lyon’s offer was worth €5m, and the French side would leave 40% of his rights with Peñarol.
Therefore, Manchester United must put something better on the table.
