Having allowed Romelu Lukaku to leave and return to Inter on loan for the foreseeable future, Chelsea desperately need a striker.

This has been on show in the first couple of games of the season, which is why the Blues are working to bring someone in before the end of the transfer window.

One of the bigger names they have been linked with has been Barcelona’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who only signed for the La Liga side in January after cancelling his contract at Arsenal.

He arrived on a free, meaning a sale eight months later would be great profit for the cash-strapped giants, which is why, needing to free up some wages to register new signings, they aren’t against a sale.

That’s what El Chiringuito’s José Álvarez is reporting on Tuesday, revealing that Barcelona ‘are waiting for Chelsea to present an offer of around €25-30m this week’ for the forward, which is an amount the club would see ‘with very good eyes’.

He also adds that Aubameyang’s exit is ‘closer’ than that of Frenkie de Jong, who is also a player the Catalans wouldn’t be against getting rid of for the right amount.

That’s a different matter altogether, but Álvarez makes it clear that Chelsea are ‘on’ Aubameyang, meaning they want to sign him.
