Among the countless players who got linked to a Newcastle United move in the past month, there were Napoli’s Fabian Ruiz and Victor Osimhen.
Reports from Italy claimed that the Magpies are interested in taking the duo to the Premier League, and in case of a summer attempt, the St. James’ Park’s side could spend up to €150m to sign both players.
The possibility of such a huge deal is still being commented in the local press, and today, the subject was commented by journalist Paolo Del Genio, live on Kiss Kiss.
The pundit urged Napoli to accept the sales, as that money could have a significant impact on the Serie A side’s process of building a stronger squad.
“Accepting €150m for Fabian and Osimhen from Newcastle in the summer? That’s right, if they stay up…,” Del Genio told Kiss Kiss (via Tutto Napoli).
“Then they would be two painful losses but with that money you make a very, very strong team, with that money you get 4-5 very strong elements. Even if you don’t replace those two with two equally strong eventually, however you can be stronger as a squad and in football you win with the squad“.
Following Newcastle United’s takeover, the club spent over €100m in the January transfer window, making the signings of Bruno Guimraães, Chris Wood, Kieran Trippier and Dan Burn.
That was a pretty big message to the market, as the big investments are expected to come in the summer.
