It seems there has been no late drama for Torino in their chase for Roberto Pereyra from Watford.

Even though the Serie A side was heavily linked to the player in the past couple of months, they ended up being unable to make a move for the midfielder in the final days of the transfer window.

Website Calcio Mercato explains today that Italian clubs can only sign two non-European players from foreign clubs per season.

Torino had already signed Brenner from Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro in the summer, and have now completed the transfer of Wilfried Stephane Singo from Ivorian side Denguele D’Odienne.

That makes it impossible for Torino to get Pereyra now, but it doesn’t mean they have given up. Calcio Mercato says the club should go back for the Argentine player next summer, so this saga should be dragged on for a few more months at least.
