AC Milan turned down the chance to sign Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic in January, preferring to ‘invest differently’.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who report the Serbian was offered to the Serie A side during the winter transfer window.
Matic has found himself increasingly out of favour at Manchester United this year, managing just eight appearances in the league totalling just over 600 minutes.
He had been linked with a move away as a result, especially as his contract expires this summer, and Italy was touted as a possible destination.
He ultimately ended up staying at Old Trafford, but it seems a move to AC Milan was proposed, only to be rejected by the club.
According to Calciomercato, Milan’s management ‘declined the idea’ after being offered Matic, preferring to invest their money, amid a massive rebuild at the club, elsewhere.
That leaves Matic trying to prove himself at Manchester United and potentially earn himself a new contract, or at least perform well enough to have clubs lining up for his signature in the summer.
