With talks stalling to sign Sporting’s Bas Dost, Fenerbahce have turned their attention to Leicester City forward Islam Slimani, report Takvim.

The Turkish newspaper say Fenerbahce sporting director Damien Comolli has identified Slimani as a backup plan to Bas Dost and he’s discussed signing the Algerian with the club’s manager Phillip Cocu.

Fenerbahce have been in talks with Bas Dost, but due to the interest in the Dutchman from other clubs and his contract status with Sporting Lisbon, the Turkish club are looking at alternatives, with Slimani emerging as an option.

The 30 year old spent the second half of last season on loan with Newcastle United and Takvim claim Fenerbahce are also ready to make a loan offer for the Leicester City attacker.

Next season the player’s chances may again be limited with the Premier League side and it makes sense to look for a way out.

Slimani scored just one goal in the Premier League last season and is under contract with Leicester City until 2021.
