Chinese club Tianjin Quanjian are interested in Leeds United forward Chris Wood after failing to land their number one target Nikola Kalinic.
The Fiorentina star has been linked with the Chinese Super League team in recent weeks, but the Croatia international has now committed himself to the Viola.
TMW have reported Kalinic is no longer being tracked by Tianjin Quanjian after they failed to convince the player to head to China. With a €50m buy out implemented into Kalinic’s contract it was always going to be difficult for Tianjin Quanjian to complete the deal.
The Croatian was one of Fiorentina’s standout players last season, but the Serie A side were keen sell him given what Tianjin Quanjian were offering. However, Kalinic’s agent rejected a move to China for his client.
Tianjin Quanjian have, allegedly, now turned their attentions to Leeds United star Chris Wood, which has also been reported in the British media. Wood is Leeds United’s top scorer this season with 14 goals, and he’s been key in the Championship side’s push for promotion.
Leeds United boss Garry Monk will not want to lose his main striker in this window, especially with the lack of depth in attack.
