The Italian press is today full of stories regarding the end of Achraf Lazaar’s contract with Newcastle United.
It was Tutto Mercato Web who broke the news in the country, only claiming that the fullback was leaving the Magpies immediately.
Then several websites started talking about the player’s potential return to Italy. Il Milanista is one of them, as they say Lazaar could be joining the Rossoneri soon.
The outlet points out the 29-year-old was already chased by Milan during the January transfer window, and that attempt wasn’t successful.
However, this turnaround now makes Lazaar a ‘low cost’ option for the Rossoneri. The outlet doesn’t make it clear if that’s an ongoing operation, as they only claim Milan ‘could return’ for him now that he’s a free agent.
Despite being born in Morocco, Lazaar spend many years in Italy, where he played for Varese and Palermo before joining Newcastle in 2016. He later also featured for Benevento and Cosenza on loan from the Magpies.
