AC Milan are one of the clubs set to make a move for Celtic’s Kristoffer Ajer.
According to Calciomercato, the Italian club have been following the centre-back ‘for months’, after he impressed in this season’s Europa League.
The 22-year-old’s age and potential makes him an ‘ideal’ candidate for the Rossoneri. His asking price is around €18-20m, according to Calciomercato, and it’s in ‘line with corporate parameters’ of the Serie A side.
Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis has tasked his right-hand man, Hendrik Almstadt, with handling negotiations for the defender’s signing.
The Norway international’s ‘goal’ is to ‘take another step forward’ in his career, meaning he wants to changes clubs this summer.
Ajer was managed by Tore Pedersen, who admitted in March that there are several clubs interested in the Hoops player.
Calciomercato state the Celtic star has changed agents this week and will now be represented by SEG (Sports Entertainment Group), an agency that manages the likes of Lyon star Memphis Depay, Atalanta’s Robin Gosens, Ajax’s Daley Blind and others.
Apart from Milan, Ajer is wanted by Leicester City and there’s interest from Paris Saint-Germain. A move to the King Power stadium would see him reunite with Brendan Rodgers and also give him a chance to play in next season’s Champions League.
The report adds Milan are ‘trying to beat huge competition’ to secure the Celtic centre-half’s signature.
With Ajer wanting to change clubs and with several clubs interested in him, it’ll be interesting to see as where he will end up next season.
