Sevilla’s Steven N’Zonzi was subject of interest from Premier League champions Leicester City during the transfer window.
There were reports claiming Leicester were ready to place a bid for the 27-year-old Frenchman, but in the end, nothing really materialised.
According to a latest report from Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Sevilla want to offer a new contract to N’Zonzi to keep him away from Leicester City and other interested clubs.
The Spanish side are aware of the interest from the Premier League side, and are ready to offer a contract extension to the player for his loyalty towards the club.
Mundo Deportivo say Leicester followed the French midfielder closely, and it remains to be seen if they’d revive their interest in the future. N’Zonzi reportedly has a release clause of €30m, and has another three years left on his contract.
The midfielder impressed enough during his time with Stoke City to earn a move to Sevilla and whilst his time in Spain didn’t start off greatly, he’s since gone on to cement his place as an important player for the club.
