While Barcelona dream of signing Bernardo Silva before the end of the transfer window, they aren’t the only side after the Manchester City star.
Paris Saint-Germain, led by Portuguese transfer guru Luis Campos on the market these days, have decided late on they would like the former AS Monaco man at the club this season.
Unlike Barcelona, they have actual money in their bank account and can register players without financial levers, meaning they stand a better chance of convincing Manchester City.
Whether the playmaker wants to join them remains to be seen, but a first attempt has been made by the Ligue 1 champions, according to Le10 Sport.
The website claim Paris Saint-Germain have ‘transmitted an offer’ of €80m for the Portugal international after making him ‘one of their priorities of the summer’.
This was then followed by a bid, but despite the amount of money put on the table, Pep Guardiola’s side ‘declined the offer’, doing so ‘without looking to negotiate’.
That’s because the Spanish manager ‘passed on a message to those above him’, which was that ‘he doesn’t want to see his Portuguese star leave’.
As for Bernardo Silva, ‘he wouldn’t be against an exit’, and Paris Saint-Germain ‘could clearly be a destination that pleases him, much like Barcelona; club he dreamed of as a kid’.
Despite this, the midfielder ‘won’t clash’ with Manchester City, because despite the fact he wants to leave, ‘he doesn’t want to use force to get his transfer’.
This is due to the ‘excellent relationship’ he has with both his club and his manager, and he’s placing his faith in his agent, Jorge Mendes, to get something done before the end of the transfer window.
Now, we wait and see if Paris Saint-Germain come back to up their offer, which Le10 Sport suggest will be the case.
