On Friday, journalist Gianluca Di Marzio stated Celtic have rejected Atalanta’s proposal for Matt O’Riley. He also said Brendan Rodgers’ side are demanding more to sanction his sale, without mentioning any figures.

Later that day, Gazzetta dello Sport reported the Serie A side have also made contact with the 23-year-old, and that Celtic are requesting close to €25m for him.

Saturday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport insists that La Dea have no intention of giving up in their pursuit of the Celtic midfielder.

The Denmark international starred for Brendan Rodgers’ side last season, managing 19 goals and 18 assists from 49 games.

Corriere also talk about the Europa League winners’ offer, and add it was around €15m. This was turned down by Celtic, who value the star at €20m [probably without bonuses], which is €5m less than the price quoted by Gazzetta yesterday.

The newspaper claims Gian Piero Gasperini’s side are ‘thinking about a new relaunch’. In other words, Atalanta are planning to send a new offer to the Scottish champions to sign O’Riley and this is mainly because of the impending exit of Aleksej Mirančuk this summer.
