Trabzonspor will be looking to strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window and they are interested in signing Newcastle United’s Joelinton, reports Turkish newspaper Fotomac.
The Brazilian striker joined the Magpies from Hoffenheim last summer for a club-record £40m, but his time at St. James’ Park has been a disappointing one.
Joelinton has only managed to score one Premier League goal in 29 appearances, which came against Tottenham Hotspur in late August.
Fotomac claim Trabzonspor could offer him an escape route and they are considering him as an ideal replacement for Daniel Sturridge, who left the club earlier this year after mutually terminating his contract.
It seems a loan move would be the only way forward for Trabzonspor, who are in a bad financial situation at the moment. However, they are on course to qualify for next season’s Champions League and subsequently will need to bolster their squad.
The 23 year old is under contract at Newcastle United until June 2025.
