With Chelsea currently trying to finalise the transfer of Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, the two clubs are locked in talks.
The defender is set to join the Stamford Bridge club for around €40m, which is a deal the Serie A side would have preferred not to make, but with their star’s contract expiring next year and no renewal on the horizon, needs must.
However, what is a frustrating time for Napoli could also be an opportunity to seize, as they remain interested in a Chelsea player: Armando Broja.
Not only that, but the €40m they are set to receive for Koulibaly could help them in their endeavour to strengthen two positions, as per Il Mattino, relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb.
With a ‘treasure of €50m’ (€40m from Chelsea and €10m or so in wages), the club have made two players their priority: Chelsea’s Broja and Udinese’s Gerard Deulofeu.
Koulibaly’s departure hasn’t changed anything, and ‘the strategy remains the same as always: they will focus on young talents in their crosshairs for some time’.
That means ‘Broja and Deulofeu first of all’, before then focusing on replacing Koulibaly with one of multiple options, which include the likes of Nikola Milenkovic and Eric Bailly.
