Linked with a move to the Premier League, Poland international Bartlomiej Dragowski eventually ended up going to Panathinaikos in Greece with Spezia now turning to Burnley’s Denis Franchi to replace him.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb in Italy, the Serie A side, who now need a back up for Jeroen Zoet, are going after the 21-year-old, who is under contract with the Clarets until 2025 with an option for an extra year at the club’s discretion.
The Burnley player joined from Paris Saint-Germain back in 2022, but has yet to make an appearance for the first-team.
He was a regular in the Ligue 1 side’s youth teams, playing in the Youth League as well as for their U19 sides and B team while it still existed.
Spezia are ‘targeting’ Franchi, although TuttoMercatoWeb do not mention how they are planning on getting him, whether it be on a permanent transfer or via an initial loan.
We’ll have to wait for updates, but with the Burnley player being Italian and having played for Prata Falchi and Udinese’s youth team in the past, a return to his home country could be on the cards in the coming days.
