Bordeaux are eyeing up a move for Manchester United defender Phil Jones before the end of the transfer window.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who say the French side are looking for a new centre-back and have turned their attention to Jones.
Then Englishman is said to be out of favour at Manchester United these days, with just one Premier League appearance to his name this season.
L’Equipe explain signing a centre-back was only a possibility for Bordeaux before the end of the window, but that was dependent on them moving players out of the squad.
However, it is has become a ‘more serious possibility’ after they secured deals for Otavio and Josh Maja, the latter is set to join Stoke City on loan with an option to buy.
Now they’ve been released, Bordeaux can look towards bringing players in, and Jones is the one they are looking at.
L’Equipe report that they are ‘in talks’ with Manchester United over a deal for the 29-year-old as he is no longer in United’s plans.
The newspaper makes no mention of whether Bordeaux are pursuing a loan deal or a permanent transfer, but we’re sure those details will be revealed sooner rather than later.
For now, it seems talks are underway for some sort of transfer before the window closes shut on Monday.
