BeinSports‘ Fenerbahce journalist Alper Yemeniciler has claimed the Turkish club are in talks to appoint Zeljko Buvac as their new manager.

Yemeniciler say former Liverpool director Damien Comolli is set to decide who’ll manage the club next season and Buvac is currently the leading candidate.

Speaking to BeinSports Turkey, Yemeniciler said: “The decision is down to Damien Comolli. He’ll meet with president Ali Y. Koc on Tuesday to discuss this.”

Yemeniciler also said Buvac is the leading candidate: “I can confirm that Comolli wants to work with Buvac. Lots of names are linked in the press, but Comolli’s first choice is Buvac, and he wants to appoint him as the next Fenerbahce manager.”

“Fenerbahce are in talks with Buvac, the talks are ongoing. David Moyes name is also being linked but it’s not concrete at the moment. Buvac is the club’s first choice.”

The Bosnian took a break from Liverpool at the end of last season and the Premier League club were quick to play the situation and deny he’d left the club.

Buvac has been Jurgen Klopp’s assistant since 2001 and they achieved success with Borussia Dortmund, managing to push Bayern Munich aside for a brief period.

Luis Enrique and Laurent Blanc are two other managers linked with the Fenerbahce job.
