Belgian side KV Mechelen are in talks with Celtic to extend Marian Shved’s loan deal at the club into next season.
That’s according to Gazet van Antwerpen, who say the player is also keen on carrying on with the club after this year.
Shved joined Mechelen in the summer, with it made clear he wasn’t part of Neill Lennon’s plans last summer.
After a difficult first few months at the club, he looked like he would be sent back in January, with the forward warned that he needed to adjust his attitude if he is to be a success.
That is something he has done and admitted to himself, with the player having established himself as a key player over the last few months and earning praise for his performances as well.
It seems those have now convinced Mechelen to extend their relationship, with them in talks with Celtic over another loan deal.
Shved ‘would also like to stay’ at the club, although at this moment in time, it’s not clear what Celtic’s stance is on the matter.
That’s likely to depend on their new manager and his opinion, with Lennon’s replacement yet to be named a month after his departure.
