Feyenoord are in negotiations with Arsenal over another loan deal for Reiss Nelson and hope to use a connection at the Emirates to get their man.
That’s according to De Telegraaf, who cover how Albert Stuivenberg’s role at Arsenal could help their transfer plans.
Nelson spent this past season on loan with the Dutch side and, after a rocky start, established himself as a first-team regular, ending the campaign with four goals and seven assists in 32 games in all competitions.
The Dutch club are keen to sign him on loan once again, but that will require Arsenal signing the player to a new contract first, with his current deal set to expire next summer.
Whether that’s something they want to do rather than securing a transfer this summer remains to be seen, but it seems Feyenoord will try regardless.
De Telegraaf report that they are ‘in talks’ with Arsenal over a longer stay for Nelson and are hoping to use their connection to Stuivenberg to help them get the deal they want.
He’s Mikel Arteta’s right-hand man but also worked in Feyenoord’s youth team, so he is well aware of the situation at the Dutch club.
That means he can recommend them to Arsenal if required and thus gives Feyenoord manager Arne Slot ‘the opportunity’ to look at Arsenal players they can potentially loan, including Nelson.
