With players like Hakim Ziyech and (most likely) Timo Werner joining this summer, Chelsea needed to make room for new arrivals.
While Willian’s future remains a little bit up in the air, that of Pedro’s isn’t, as the Spaniard has made it clear he will be leaving the club once his contract at Stamford Bridge is up.
He’s since been linked with many clubs, but the most consistent story suggested he could end up in Rome, where Paulo Fonseca wants him at AS Roma.
However, there’s another club trying their best to convince him to join them in Serie A, and that’s Fiorentina.
The news comes from the aptly named FiorentinaNews.com, who report as an exclusive that the Florence based club have been talking to Pedro for ‘a month’ about a move, and he’s ‘definitely intrigued’ by their project.
That’s all they give us, but it suggests AS Roma’s path to the player might not be as clear as some have made it out to be.
While Fiorentina aren’t as high up in the league as their Rome based counterparts, there’s an ambitious project in the works there under Rocco B. Commisso, and if they can convince Pedro to be the experienced man to help take the young team forward alongside Franck Ribéry, they might have a chance.
