Another day, another contradicting update on the situation of Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud.
Just yesterday, we covered a report in Tuttosport claiming that Inter were thinking about making a move for the France international, but had some ‘doubts’ about making a move in January.
They claimed the amount Chelsea were asking for, as well as his age, were the problems causing this issue, yet Gazzetta dello Sport see it completely differently on Wednesday.
The Italian newspaper state that signing Giroud is an opportunity Inter are ‘taking into serious consideration’, since he’s already been managed by Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.
Unlike Tuttosport’s €8m, they reckon Chelsea would ask for €6-7m for the veteran goalscorer, and Inter could convince him with a contract of at least 18 months.
That would see him stay in Milan until at least 2021, where he will hopefully get enough game time to convince Didier Deschamps to take him to the 2020 Euros for one final hurrah before (most likely) calling a day on his international career.
That would make the most sense, anyway.
Be sure to stay tuned for more (probably) tomorrow, when some other source will most likely refute these comments and provide an alternative with some new figures.
It’s that time of the year, folks, so strap yourselves in.
