Valencia are the latest club to show an interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Rafa Mir as a battle for his signature looks set to unfold in Spain.
Mir has been in excellent form while on loan at Huesca this season, with 12 goals in the league earning him plenty of attention.
There have already been several reports about the big sides in La Liga taking an interest, with MARCA today putting Atlético Madrid at the front of the queue.
SuperDeporte now add Valencia to the mix, stating that they have ‘asked about him’ and his ‘conditions’ for next season.
They explain that Mir is set to end his contract with Wolves in June 2022, so has a year left on his deal there, but Huesca have an option to make his loan deal permanent for €10m and are ‘ready’ to activate it.
This is interesting because Marca have today stated that Huesca do not have an option to make the move permanent.
SD say different, though, and state that while the options for Mir to stay at Huesca are ‘minimal’, they are ready to buy him to do business.
Two clubs have already knocked on his door, and they are Atlético and Real Betis, both of whom were interested last summer.
His list of suitors is long, however, and Valencia are one of those to have ‘taken an interest’ in the situation. Regardless of what happens with Maxi Gómez and Gonçalo Guedes, they need to add at least two forwards to their squad for next season.
That’s because Patrick Cutrone is returning to Wolves from his loan spell, Kevin Gameiro is leaving when his contract ends, and Kang In Lee has decided to leave.
Thus, Mir, who has impressed this season and is likely to be available for relatively cheap, is a good option for them to explore, although the competition for his signature is fierce.
