Should Il Romanista be correct, then there’s a reasonable chance Jose Mourinho will soon be getting frustrated with AS Roma’s transfer business.

When it was announced the manager would be taking charge at the Serie A club, there were quickly many transfer rumours. More so than that, it was clear several players were being pursued strongly.

One of those is Rui Patricio, yet Il Romanista state the Serie A club haven’t gone above €6m, with claims Roma are looking at younger options and stalling things with the 33-year-old for that reason.

Granit Xhaka moving from Arsenal to Roma has been presented as nearly done on multiple occasions, yet it’s stated that has also stalled, and Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz is seen as an alternative.

Il Romanista report Tiago Pinto, in charge of transfers for the Giallorossi, has ‘stopped everything’ with regards to getting Xhaka from Arsenal. That’s because he’s so far refused to go beyond €15m, with Mikel Arteta’s side wanting €6-7m more.

Pinto has contacted Aston Villa with regards to Luiz and won’t have got the answer he hoped for, with the Birmingham club said to be asking for €30m. Even that, which will be more than Roma want to pay, sounds such a reasonable price it’s hard to believe Villa have set such a valuation.

Back to the drawing board then, and likely back to Xhaka.
