Despite his wage demands, Panathinaikos remain interested in signing Leeds United defender Vurnon Anita, according to Sdna.Gr.

We covered reports earlier in this transfer window that Pana are looking to sign the Dutchman, and Anita was hoping to terminate his contract at Elland Road.

Sdna claim Feyenoord were interested in signing Anita but with the Rotterdam side confirming the arrival of former Swansea City captain Leroy Fer on a free transfer, this has given Pana some hope with regards to signing the Leeds United player.

Fer and Anita are different types of player, so the hope is likely related to budget.

Initial claims said the Leeds United man was looking to receive an offer from MLS but no club has made an approach.

According to Sdna, Panaathinaikos have yet to make their final move for the 29 year old and are still hoping they will be able to complete a deal for the player.

It seems unlikely Anita is in the plans of Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa for next season, and the player is contracted to the club until June 2020.
