PSV Eindhoven are ‘still betting’ on getting a deal done for Liverpool’s Sepp van den Berg, but it needs a ‘bit of goodwill’ from everyone involved to get it over the line.

That’s according to Eindhovens Dagblad, who cover PSV’s desperate search for defenders today and how they haven’t given up on Van den Berg yet.

The newspaper reports that PSV have a major problem as their defensive options have been left limited at this moment in time by injuries.

The club are ‘still betting’ on getting a deal done for Van den Berg and two other candidates but talks are not progressing as quickly as the Dutch would like.

They don’t want to pay want Liverpool want for Van den Berg at this moment in time and that is why matters are being held up despite weeks of talks regarding their interest.

The belief is that the transfers will happen if there is a ‘a bit of goodwill from all sides’ but there is no 100% guarantee at this moment in time.

Van den Berg would like to go to PSV, but Liverpool have a say in the matter and know that there is one club after another showing interest.

It seems the Reds are willing to bide their time, even testing Van den Berg under Arne Slot in pre-season first, something that doesn’t tally with PSV’s desire to get him as soon as possible.
