The Turkish media today shares big news regarding the race for Aston Villa winger Bertrand Traoré.
It had been known by the local press that Besiktas and Galatasaray had both been battling for the player, who doesn’t seem to be in Steven Gerrard’s plans for this season.
And it turns out that according to Sozcu, a new club showed up in the competition. That’s Basaksehir, who may actually have a big advantage in the race.
With Besiktas and Galatasaray not able to match the salary Traoré makes at Aston Villa, it’s claimed that both clubs had proposed the same conditions, offering him wages of €2.5m per season.
Basaksehir, however, showed up offering what he makes in England, which is €4.5m a year, and it turns out that they have some kind of foreign support for it.
“We will give €1.5m. The remaining €3m will be given by an investor from Burkina Faso,” are the quotes brought by Sozcu.
The story is taken as huge news in Turkey, with people being quite curious about this money which would make Basaksehir overcome two local giants. Meanwhile, there are no details on the clubs’ negotiations with Aston Villa.
