It seems that Valencia are starting to admit they could keep Eliaquim Mangala at the club after the end of the season.
As said many times by the local press, the Spanish side would not even be thinking of paying the €18m which would guarantee a permanent exit from Manchester City.
But as reported by AS today, a deal could still be found in the case Manchester City accept to negotiate the price of a permanent transfer. The transfer would be easier because of the good relationship between the clubs directors Alesanco and Txiki Beguiristáin.
As we said last week, it’s sounded like a bluff from Valencia since the beginning. On loan since the start of the season, Mangala is living through good form at the club, and they would have no reason not to try and make the move permanent, or at least try for another loan.
Manchester City, on the other hand, now have an opportunity to start an auction for Mangala. Pep Guardiola is reportedly not counting on the player for next season, and if Valencia really don’t pay the clause, City are free to negotiate with anyone they want.
Valencia getting a big discount on the clause is a benefit for the Spanish club, but not so much for Manchester City.
