Fenerbahçe have started official contacts with Manchester United over a deal for defender Victor Lindelöf this summer.

That’s according to journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, who reports that talks are underway between the two clubs over the Swedish international.

Lindelöf has long been linked with a move away from Manchester United, with numerous reports indicating that he could be part of the list of players that United want to move on this summer as they reshape Erik ten Hag’s squad.

The 29-year-old’s contract at Manchester United expires next year so this summer is the last in which Manchester United can sell for money, otherwise they face the prospect of losing him on a free next year.

They would presumably be keen to avoid that and Sabuncuoğlu now reports Fenerbahçe have stepped forward to open talks about a potential deal.

He provides no details on the potential deal between the two sides, namely what sort of transfer fee could be involved, just that the Turkish side have now opened talks about a potential deal for the Swedish international.

A move to Turkey would be no surprise for him, with Fenerbahçe long-term admirers and Galatasaray also having been credited with an interest in the past few months too.
