AC Milan are moving to take Diogo Dalot from Manchester United on a permanent move, according to claims from Italy today.

Outlet Il Milanista features a big story covering the situation of all the loanees the Rossoneri have in their squad this season.

In Dalot’s case, it’s claimed that Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara should start negotiating with Manchester United ‘in the coming days’.

The report mentions that a deal of €17m ‘has been discussed’, although Milan are still to submit an official offer for the fullback.

Following a loan move in October, Diogo Dalot has made 16 appearances for Milan so far.

Used on both sides of the pitch, he’s been the club’s first choice to start in the Europa League. In Serie A, however, he only comes in to replace right-back Davide Calabria or left-back Theo Hernandez.

Not long ago, outlet Milan Live labelled as ‘impossible’ the chances of the Rossoneri signing Dalot in a €20m deal, claiming he needs to show a lot more for that. It was said the club would only sign him ‘for the right price’, given their belief in his potential.

Manchester United, who have Dalot under contract until 2023, have recently been linked to right-back options due to their need to get a back-up for Aaron Wan Bissaka.

So depending on how the Portuguese youngster does until the end of the season, perhaps the Red Devils would already have the player they’re looking for.
