Getafe will stand firm and demand any suitors pay €16m for defender Omar Alderete amid reports Tottenham have turned their attention to him.
That’s according to Sport, who say Atlético de Madrid have also shown an interest in the 27-year-old in the past.
A report yesterday stated that Tottenham were eyeing up a move for Alderete, who was a specific request from manager Ange Postecoglou.
That made it clear the player has a €16m release clause in his current deal and the Spanish side have always referred any interested parties to that when they’ve been approached.
Sport back this up, explaining that Alderete is in the ‘peak moment’ of his career and that has drawn interest from Tottenham and others.
He’s actually only valued at €5m but Getafe have no intention of selling at that price. Instead, they’ve made an important decision and told anyone who wants him that they need to pay the termination clause, which is €16m.
In terms of Tottenham’s interest, Sport say they are ‘very aware’ of Alderete and consider him a ‘piece to take into account’.
They’re not the only side in the mix as Atlético are still interested in the player as Diego Simeone would like to strengthen his defence, considering it the weak spot in his team at present.
They, like Tottenham, will have to pay the release clause, as Getafe plan to stand firm and not offer any discounts.
