At the start of this week, the Turkish media claimed that Portuguese side Sporting are interested in the signing of Loris Karius.
With the goalkeeper returning to Liverpool at the end of his loan spell with Besiktas next summer, it’s been said the Lions would be keen on bringing him to Lisbon.
The rumour has been covered by the Portuguese press, with outlets such as Jornal de Notícias echoing the news in today’s edition.
But it turns out that other outlets who actually spoke to their sources at Sporting are not buying this rumour for now.
Newspaper Record is one of them. As they have a story about goalkeeper Renan, they use the last paragraph to say that despite the rumours, ‘official sources’ from Sporting deny that there’s any interest in Karius.
The same goes to O Jogo. They bring a little article to say there had been interest last season, but not now. The newspaper writes that Karius should return to Liverpool, where he’s ‘fallen in disgrace’ after the Champions League final in 2018.
