When Sandro Tonali joined Newcastle United from AC Milan, the move raised eyebrows.
That wasn’t just because of the fact that the Magpies were snatching one of the leading names in the Serie A, but also because of the fee in question.
At that point, the fee for the midfielder was said, by some, to be €70m plus bonuses and that seemed like a huge investment from Newcastle United.
TMW today report figures from AC Milan’s official accounts, and those figures contradict some higher claims.
The accounts state that Milan actually earned only €58.9m from Tonali’s sale and €48.4m was the amount that went into their coffers, as Brescia got a percentage of the fee.
It could be possible the Magpies paid agent fees equivalent to the difference in fees and the fee that was initially reported was a combination of everything.
Regardless, TMW state there’s the possibility of future bonuses being added to the total.
