It appears to be done: Inter ‘have sold’ Cesare Casadei to Chelsea.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who claim the young midfielder will go to the Blues for ‘€15m + bonuses to arrive at a maximum of €20m’, which is the amount the Serie A side wanted.
This shows the amount of faith Chelsea appear to have in the Italian, who is only 19 and has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Italian side.
While Inter weren’t exactly overjoyed at the idea of selling him, the money brought in from his departure and that of Andrea Pinamonti to Sassuolo is expected to allow them to keep a member of the first-team they would have otherwise needed to sell to balance the books.
As for Chelsea, they have secured a talented player for the future, but it remains to be seen whether he will immediately go into Thomas Tuchel’s first-team plans at Stamford Bridge or if he will be allowed to settle in and maybe go out on loan before coming back with more experience under his belt.
Either way, Corriere are adamant: the transfer is done and Casadei will be the latest signing for the Blues.
