Joao Félix has taken the ‘crisis’ he was living in at Atlético Madrid to Chelsea, with the Blues struggling to find themselves.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say that Atlético have ‘been on the up’ since the Portuguese forward moved to Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window.
They explain that Simeone and his side are enjoying a strong run of form since Félix departed, becoming a ‘different team’ since returning from the World Cup.
The reality, though, is that they’ve also been a different side since Félix departed for Chelsea in January. The ‘crisis’ that was developing at the Wanda Metropolitano has ‘disappeared’ and it was ‘almost coinciding’ with Félix’s departure.
That may be simple coincidence but the Portuguese forward has taken the problems he and Atlético had with him to Chelsea.
As much as he is ‘at ease and happy’ with life in London, the truth is that Graham Potter’s side are not going through their best moment and both circumstances have ‘coincided in time’. That is ‘striking’ to say the least.
For example, since his last game at Atlético they have only lost one game in the league and cup, to Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively. Even those games they lost without really deserving it.
The balance without Félix is ten Félix games, six wins, two draws and two defeats. In contrast, Chelsea have ‘not been able to raise their head’ despite the fact they spent no less than €329.5m in January.
They’re now tenth in the Premier League and ten points outside of the Champions League, a ‘tremendous’ situation given their spending in January and the summer.
Félix is yet to enjoy a win with his new side, with three defeats and one draw in four game so far in Blue and more negatives than positives.
He could soon find himself playing in a team ‘with no chance in any of the tournaments’ they are playing in despite three months of the season remaining. Whether that is his fault is up for debate, but Atlético are certainly happy he has gone.
